Gluten-free Candied Ginger Molasses Cookies

I prepared this hot beverage to serve with Mia’s Gluten free candied ginger molasses cookies

This is for sure not the original recipe as the original sahlep ingredient (dried bulb from an orchid) has not been used for this recipe. This is to reproduce the consistency and the delicate spiced flavor.

Instant Powder for Copycat Sahlep

Mix following ingredients:

  • 1 cup dried coffee creamer
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 6 tablespoons glutinous rice powder
  • 6 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla flavored sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4  teaspoon  nutmeg
  • 1/4  teaspoon cardamom optional
  • 200 g grated white chocolate
  • cinnamon to dust

 Preparation

  1. Mix in pot 1 cup of water (or 1/2 cup water + 1/2 cup milk) with 3 tablespoons Copycat Sahlep powder.
  2. Bring to boil stirring constantly until it becomes thick
  3. Serve in a cup dusted with cinnamon
